For the last couple of weeks we have been happy to have our YR Police officer come to our school to speak to our Grade 6 students about Values, Influences and Peers, the VIP program. This community outreach program between York Regions schools and the YR Police has been very popular for years and is a very successful educational tool to help prevent our students from making bad choices as they move into their their adolescence.
The Grade 6 program discusses peer pressure, cyberbullying and how to keep yourself safe. Our community liaison officer also speaks to our Grade 7 and 8 students about the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse and our grade 3 students about bullying prevention.
We thank the YR Police and Officer Alex for partnering with our school and coming out to Westminster to provide this valuable information to our students.
